Appropriate degree is highly desirable, although suitable experience may substitute for some or all education.  A background in Higher Education, Sport and/or Sport Journalism and Public Speaking desired.  Must have practical experience in establishing speakers&rsquo; bureaus and collaborating with community and national projects. Must be able to plan and stage special events, have experience working with the media, possess practical computer knowledge and proficiency in using a variety of MS/Windows compatible computer applications and software such as desk-top publishing and standard desktop suite. <br />

California State University, Bakersfield opened in 1970 and enrolls approximately 8,000 students.  The athletic program currently fields 19 sports.  Competing at the NCAA Division I level. <strong>DUTIES:</strong><br />
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: assist the Sports Information Director in publicizing Roadrunner Athletics to the media, boosters, and related groups; serve as the primary contact for selected sports; provide assistance with other sports as needed; report results to the media; write press releases and maintain records and files; assist with the maintenance of the CSUB Athletics website; produce printed and multimedia materials related to the promotion and marketing of CSUB&rsquo;s teams, student-athletes and events while assisting the marketing and development office with related tasks; and other duties as assigned.<br />

<strong>QUALIFICATIONS:	</strong>Requires a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree (preferably in communications, journalism, sports administration or related field) and minimum one year of full-time experience in collegiate sports information or athletic media relations (minimum experience at a graduate assistant level is acceptable). The assistant will serve as the primary media contact for several sports (including volleyball, <img vspace="10" hspace="10" align="right" src="/media/images/2010/8/tarleton_logo.jpg" style="width: 162px; height: 131px;" alt="" />women&rsquo;s basketball, men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s cross country, men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s track and field, baseball) while maintaining sport statistics, reporting to the NCAA and the Lone Star Conference, writing and editing press releases and game stories, designing and writing media guides, updating both the athletics website as well as the athletic council website, working with video and social media, helping coordinator support efforts with corporate sponsors and perform other various duties as assigned by the Director of Media Relations and the Director of Athletics.<br />

<strong>Qualifications:</strong><br />
Strong writing and communications skills, along with a working knowledge of StatCrew, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office in a PC and MAC environment.  Graphic design and web content management experience, along with a familiarity with NCAA Division II rules and regulations is preferred.  Working knowledge of video and social media is also preferred.  Prior experience of at least two years in sports information/athletic media relations office is required.  Candidate must be flexible to travel with assigned teams for competitions as required, including weekends and/or holidays.<br />

&bull;	Assists with the preparation and editing of scripts and publications for Athletic Department special events.<br />

<strong>JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br />
Serve as a coordinator of content for <a href="http://MackBrown-TexasFootball.com">MackBrown-TexasFootball.com</a> and assist in all media relations duties for football. Serve as liaison for coaches and student-athletes with media and with conference, NCAA and departmental contacts. Help produce, review and approve video content and special features for MackBrown-TexasFootball.com; develop a website video/multi-media content strategy and/or plan for MackBrown-TexasFootball.com website; plan and assign or write and edit MackBrown-TexasFootball.com website content; assist in writing, editing of football publications; assist in all writing and editing of football game notes, press releases and feature stories.<br />

Assist in coordinating press management efforts for Texas football games: distribution of media credentials; provide appropriate information to media; assist in coordination of post-game interviews and releases. Assist with supervision and development of student assistants. Attend outside functions and activities as a representative of the department. Other related functions as assigned. <br />
<strong><br />
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br />
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of three years work experience in video editing, production or management; athletics media relations or website content management. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts. Must have exceptional interpersonal communications skills and recent examples of creative video work or web content stories. Must have the ability to work with a variety of different people and personalities.<br />
<br />
Computer experience with Macintosh and PC computers using desktop publishing and/or video/graphic production software is a must. Working knowledge of Photoshop software as well as examples of video/still photo/graphic work. <br />
<strong><br />
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br />
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, sports management, or related area. More than the required experience in athletic media relations, sports information, and/or video editing/production or website content/management. Experience in video production or editing or creative design. Seeking an individual with experience working with iMovie or Final Cut video editing software. Extensive organizational skills and work experience managing several projects simultaneously. Creative skills necessary to generate unique ideas for website coverage and publications productions.<br />

<strong>Working conditions:</strong> Exposure to all weather conditions. Exposure to standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Work both independently and as a team member; intrastate and interstate travel; work with sensitive and confidential information; work with large numbers of people including student-athletes, coaches, staff, and media. <strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br />
Serve as the primary SID contact for women&rsquo;s basketball, baseball and one fall sport.   Duties include website and social media updates, design of online guides and game-day programs, writing pre-game and post-game stories, developing relationships with local media, directing press box operations for women&rsquo;s basketball and baseball, serving as official scorer at baseball, traveling to all women&rsquo;s basketball games and a majority of baseball games.  <br />
<br />
<strong>Qualifications: </strong><br />
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree.  Experience with internet/website applications is a priority, along with solid writing skills and personal communication skills.  Graphic design background and experience in a collegiate sports information office are preferred.<br />
